Max Aarons is expected to leave Bournemouth before the transfer window closes amid interest from Leeds United, according to Ian Abrahams.

The journalist reported via his personal X account [26 August], through sources in Italy, that a couple of Serie A clubs are keeping an eye on the 24-year-old full-back.

It is understood that Leeds have renewed their interest in Aarons, with the player having undergone a medical at Elland Road last summer before making a late switch to the Cherries from Norwich City.

"Update - Max Aarons is expected to leave Bournemouth before the transfer window closes," he wrote.

"My sources in Italy say a couple of clubs in Serie A are interested in signing him, plus I've heard Leeds have also renewed their interest."

Leeds United to sign Max Aarons as right-back reinforcement?

With the Whites splashing the cash on Jayden Bogle earlier this summer, it makes little sense for the club to sign Aarons if Bournemouth demand a decent transfer fee.

Leeds are now light in many departments following the exits of several star players, such as Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, none more so than in defence.

Junior Firpo and Bogle are set to be the first-choice picks for Daniel Farke this season, but with Sam Byram the only backup for either flank, Leeds need another defensive face through the doors.

Max Wober is also capable of deputising at left-back but he has had limited game time since returning from his loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, and it remains to be seen whether Farke trusts him.

If Aarons were to be available for a cheap fee, which could be possible given he only made 13 Premier League starts for the Cherries last season, he would be good cover.

His last season in the Championship saw him make 44 starts, scoring once and picking up two assists, though his yellow-card accumulation may be a concern to a few fans.

If the Whites are serious about a second chance for signing Aarons, they will need to speed up the process quickly with only four days of the transfer window remaining, and Serie A clubs sniffing around.
