Georginio Rutter reaches agreement that could pave way to stunning Leeds United return
Georginio Rutter may be assessing his options at Brighton after joining the Seagulls from Leeds United in 2024.
The Whites sold the attacking midfielder to Brighton after his standout campaign in the 2023-24 Championship season.
The 24-year-old won the hearts of the Elland Road faithful, but after the club failed to secure promotion that season, he decided to move on.
Leeds banked around £40million for Rutter, who has somewhat split opinion at the Amex Stadium.
Daniel Farke knows the versatile forward very well, and there were even rumours of him potentially returning to LS11 in the summer.
However, the biggest twist in Rutter's Brighton career may have just dropped, as Fabrizio Romano delivers the latest on the ex-Leeds star.
Georginio Rutter update drops as Leeds fans will dream
Rutter was mooted to re-join Leeds in the summer, but the forward stayed with Brighton.
The Frenchman has made seven appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls so far this campaign, with five goals and assists combined to his name already.
However, he doesn't always start for Fabian Hurzeler in the Premier League, which may be making the forward think about his future.
In an update on X this Wednesday, Romano has reported that Rutter has officially signed with Unique Sports Group, who will now act as his new representatives.
They will deal with any potential transfer with their new client in the future.
But Leeds fans may not be able to think of anything other than that the news hints at a Brighton exit.
Rutter still loves the club, but would he fit into Farke's plans?
Where would Rutter fit into Daniel Farke's plans now?
Much has changed since Rutter played his football in LS11.
Farke switched to a three-at-the-back formation, which saved his job, veering away from having a setup that deploys a natural number 10, the position where Rutter often played.
The German head coach sometimes plays a 3-5-2 formation with another forward playing just off Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while other times, two players can operate as wide 10s behind the England international.
Rutter is very versatile and still learning, so he would have no problem fitting in either setup for Farke.
Of course, if the Whites were to sign the Brighton man, there would be implications for others at the club.
Let's see if the doors do open for Rutter to leave.
