What Ethan Ampadu did to Georginio Rutter after Leeds United draw vs Brighton

Leeds United had more than one reason to really fight against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

After dominating for an hour and missing several huge changes, the Whites were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.

It's a huge leap from the battering they took at the AMEX Stadium last season under Daniel Farke.

But now, it feels even more personal.

Not only did Georginio Rutter leave Leeds for the Seagulls after failing in the Championship play-off final, but Pascal Struijk made that same move this summer.

While meaning nothing before and during the game, they were both spotted around the Leeds squad at the end.

Not that Ethan Ampadu cared that much.

What did Ethan Ampadu do to Struijk and Rutter?

Unseen footage has been shared of the draw by Leeds on YouTube.

Walking out to the bench just before kick-off, Struijk shared a smile and some conversation with Jaka Bijol and Sean Longstaff.

But, it was after when Farke managed to grab his former defender and Rutter for a conversation and embrace.

Seen in the footage, Ampadu kept Struijk's gretting to a simple handshake and move on after the full-time whistle, though it was likely different inside.

And while Rutter was embracing Farke, the skipper walked past and stole his hat, leading to a shout and laugh for the attacker to get it back.

While part of Elland Road history and favourites when here, it's a completely different story when not in the building to these fans.

It appears that Ampadu gets that, too.

Pascal Struijk gets frosty Leeds reception

While positive on the whole, the defender didn't get the biggest applause from those travelling fans.

In fact, there were loud boos from large parts of the support.

His wife was even spotted on social media, suggesting that it was "embarrassing" for that to have happened.

Leeds fans are the most passionate around, and if they feel like a player forced his way out, so to speak, they'll let you know about it.

Farke and everyone at Leeds made it clear that Struijk was offered fresh terms, and now he's sitting on the bench at Brighton every week, it's not looking great.

The Whites are laughing, though.

Banking up to £20million for a player who wanted out and replacing him with Tarik Muharemovic, who looks like a genuine star, is incredible business.

Add Nico Elvedi and James Trafford to that, and this back six has upgraded Leeds dramatically.
