Gary Lineker speculates major transfer on MOTD amid £30m Leeds update

Leeds’ summer transfer window may be the most important in their history as they aim to stay in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke has reportedly been given over £100 million to spend this summer as he looks to avoid the dreaded drop.

It is no doubt going to have to be a perfect window at Elland Road if they are to become the first promoted team in three years to stay in the Premier League.

A list of targets has already been produced, with Everton’s Beto now linked with a move to Leeds

Now, Match of the Day pundits Gary Lineker and Ashley Williams have weighed in on the 27-year-old’s future.

Williams does not see Beto as Everton’s main striker next season amid Leeds rumours

A new striker for Leeds this summer is a must. Jamie Vardy has been linked with a move to Leeds in the hope of adding more Premier League experience to the squad.

However, Everton’s Beto has been the biggest star linked to Elland Road this summer.

The striker was out-of-favour at Goodison Park until David Moyes arrived and he is now the club’s top scorer this season.

On Saturday, he was among the goals again, as he got the Toffees’ third in a 3-1 victory over Fulham.

As a result, this future at Everton this summer was one of the talking points after the game.

Lineker said on Match of the Day (11 May): “Beto scored again today, and there is a lot of talk of changes coming up at Everton this summer.”

He then asked Williams: “Can you see him leading the line next season?”

The former Welsh international replied: “I think David Moyes will want somebody else, but he is a very good second option and he has proved that since Moyes has come in.”

Beto is unlikely to be happy being a backup at Everton

If Everton do bring in another striker, it is unlikely that Beto will be happy sitting on the bench next season.

The striker has proved in the latter half of the campaign that he can be the leading attacker for a Premier League side.

This is where Leeds may have an advantage in the potential transfer. If it is clear that Beto is no longer the first choice, he may push for a move to Elland Road this summer.

The 27-year-old would add much-needed experience to Leeds’ attack and would likely net at least 10 goals across the campaign.
