Fabrizio Romano shares update on Leeds United pursuit of Wolves winger Adama Traore

There is currently nothing advanced between Leeds United and Wolves winger Adama Traore, despite his contract expiring this summer according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Whites have long been linked with the Spain international, who was targeted by both Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch over recent transfer windows, and have been keeping an eye on his contract negotiations with current club Wolves in recent months.

But while there is nothing close regarding a renewal at Molineux, Romano shared via his Caught Offside substack (4 December) that there is also nothing advanced with any other club although he believes the speedster would fit in well at Elland Road.

“At the moment there’s nothing advanced with other clubs, but Adama Traore could be a name to watch on the market because there’s not been much progress over talks for a new contract with Wolves,” he wrote.

“I personally think Leeds would be a very good move for him for their style of football.”

Time is now?

This has been a deal that has seemed inevitable for a while, but every time it looks like it will finally get done someone else swoops in and things change.

He was all set for a Leeds move before Barcelona appeared to take him on loan last year, while Tottenham have also been interested in using him as a wing-back.

But with the forward line needing some strengthening at Elland Road during the winter market, Traore could prove to be a shrewd bit of business for the Whites if they can agree a deal to get him in on the cheap before his contract expires.

He has incredible pace and skill, and while his end product isn’t the best he showed during his stint with Barcelona that he is capable of producing moments of magic for himself and his teammates.

As Romano says, this is certainly one to keep an eye on with so many potential options flying about, this could be one that Leeds save as an emergency option just in case they can’t get other targets over the line.
