Fabrizio Romano says what’s true about Leeds United star Summerville after what he’s heard at Liverpool

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville is “really appreciated” as Liverpool target a summer transfer for him, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist said on his Here We Go podcast that Liverpool’s interest in the Leeds winger is genuine and that club shouts have monitored his progress for some time.

Summerville has 20 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season, with Leeds having just one game left before a potential Championship play-off campaign.

On Summerville’s progress, Romano revealed: “What I am hearing is true, that Summerville at Leeds United is one of the players they are monitoring.”

He added that Liverpool have had a long-term interest in the attacker, saying: “They sent their scouts multiple times – even before (Michael) Edwards and (Richard) Hughes arrived at the club – to follow the progress of Summerville.

“So now, let’s see what Liverpool will decide to do. The player is really appreciated.”

Summerville hoping to fire Leeds United back to Premier League

Leeds United remain second in the Championship table with just one match remaining, albeit only on goal difference above Ipswich Town, who have a game in hand.

Summerville was unable to add to his 19 second-tier strikes against QPR last time out, and was just as shell-shocked as his team-mates with Leeds falling to a 4-0 defeat at Loftus Road, their heaviest of the season at the worst possible time.

Ipswich’s draw with Hull gives Leeds hope that they could still be second in the table come next Saturday (4 May), but if Ipswich avoid defeat against Coventry City a few days prior, they’ll hold all the cards going into the final day.

There’s no doubt that Summerville – the newly-crowned Championship player of the year – has stood tallest in a season which has on the whole been sensational for Leeds, but if Daniel Farke’s side do end up being consigned to the play-offs, he’ll need to rise once again if Leeds are to avoid another setback.
