Leeds United loanee Max Wober is facing a short spell out of action after sustaining an injury with Borussia Monchengladbach, according to Bild.

Wober joined the German side last summer for the duration of the 2023-24 campaign and could sign for them permanently later this year after impressing.

However, the 26-year-old sustained an injury in last week's 4-3 loss at Hoffenheim and is expected to miss Gladbach's next game.

The German publication reported on its online edition [23 April]: "Wober was missing [from training].

"The central defender suffered a slight muscle tear in his thigh during the game in Hoffenheim. It is unlikely that he will play against Union Berlin on Sunday."

Will Leeds United sell Max Wober?

Wober's exit last summer left Daniel Farke scrambling for replacements, but it is fair to say Leeds have not exactly missed him this season.

The Whites' defence has been very strong overall, even if results have not been quite as strong in recent weeks.

That said, Ethan Ampadu is a holding midfielder by trade and central-defensive partner Joe Rodon is set to return to parent club Tottenham.

If Leeds are promoted to the Premier League, it may well be that Farke finds a place for Wober in his backline going forward.

Joe Rodon has been excellent for Leeds United on loan from Tottenham this season.

However, with an eight-figure transfer windfall possible through to sale of Wober [Gladbach Live, 18 April], Leeds will be tempted to cash in.

The Austrian defender has three years still left to run on his contract, explaining why the Whites can demand such a high fee.

Wober is not in the shop window while injured, so to speak, but he will likely attract interest in the summer. Leeds will then have a decision to make.
