Fabrizio Romano says 'key hours ahead' for Leeds and Raphinha

The Raphinha transfer saga at Leeds United will see new developments on Thursday (30 June) with “key hours ahead”, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist has reported on Twitter on 30 June that three clubs are in the running for the Brazilian winger, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona all doing battle for his signature.

Romano believes the next few hours will be key in the saga and we can expect to see significant movement from the Raphinha camp very soon.

He said: “Key hours ahead with the Raphinha deal.

“Chelsea will have a direct talk with his agent Deco today and are waiting for an answer on personal terms.

“Both Barcelona and Arsenal are trying until the end and Leeds have full agreement with Chelsea but the deal also depends on the player’s side.”

Significant movement

It is now clear that three clubs are in the running for Raphinha but we aren’t any closer to knowing who is in the driving seat.

Chelsea had agreed on a fee of £55 million for the playmaker, however, it seems that the former Stade Rennais forward has his heart on playing for Barcelona.

His agent, Deco, of course has strong relations with the Spanish giants and reports suggest that Raphinha dreams of joining the Blaugurana.

Arsenal had also showed strong interest and had a bid rejected for Leeds’ talisman earlier in the window before their London rivals had an increased bid accepted by the Yorkshire club.

If Barcelona can somehow stump up the required funds to acquire the player, you would think it would be a foregone conclusion that Raphinha moves to the Nou Camp, but until that looks unlikely unless they sell some players.

Until Barcelona can raise the money, Chelsea and Arsenal will continue to do battle for the services of Raphinha.

In other Leeds United news, this Leeds player has arrived in a European city to undergo a medical before leaving Elland Road permanently.
