Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United want to open talks to sign Noa Lang

Club Brugge are trying to offer Noa Lang a new contract in order to fend off interest from Leeds United, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Thursday night, the Sky Sports Italy journalist reported that Leeds want to open talks to sign the 21-year-old winger, who shone on loan at Club Brugge this season.

Lang is set to make a permanent move to Brugge from Ajax but GVA has previously reported that the Belgian club wants over £21.4million to let the winger move on.

Quality addition

Lang had a stunning season at Club Brugge, where he won the Belgian league title after scoring 17 goals and supplying 11 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

He scored against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League group stages back in December and netted against Standard Liege and Anderlecht on the way to Brugge’s title win.

The dazzling ace has done just about as good as you can do in Belgium, which bodes well for a Dutch Under-21 international who’s still got the bulk of his career ahead of him.

Lang can also play on both wings or as a centre-forward, which could come in very handy for Marcelo Bielsa, with the Leeds boss a fan of versatile players.

However, Lang is reportedly at the centre of an anti-semitism storm in Belgium.

The Belgian Football Association (URBSFA) have opened an investigation after Lang was alleged to have sang an anti-semitic chant during Brugge’s title celebrations [Yahoo].

Do we really want a player caught up in something like that?

Or should Victor Orta be turning his attention elsewhere if Lang has a habit of making the back pages for the wrong reasons?

In other Leeds United news, Mina Raiola could enter talks over the future of this player who’s linked with the Whites.
