Ezgjan Alioski could terminate Leeds contract early to clinch Galatasaray move

Leeds United could release Ezgjan Alioski before the conclusion of his current contract to facilitate his move to Galatasaray, according to Fanatik.

The Turkish news outlet claims the Super Lig side are desperate to wrap up a deal for the North Macedonia international before June 30, the official expiry date of his Whites contract.

Fanatik report that meetings have been held to speed up the process of Alioski arriving in Istanbul, while he has held discussions with manager Fatih Terim.

Galatasaray are said to be intensifying the chase for their ‘number one’ target after left-back Marcelo Saracchi exited the club this week following the end of his loan spell from German side RB Leipzig.

Emre Tasdemir, Martin Linnes and Omer Bayram have also left the Turkish giants after their deals ran out, with no left-back options remaining at the club, so Alioski is considered to be an ‘urgent reinforcement’.

No point delaying the inevitable

Alioski’s Elland Road exit has been mooted for a considerable amount of time now, so letting him leave before his contract officially runs out doesn’t seem like a particularly big deal given our season is about to finish.

A versatile performer who has proved himself in the Premier League and on the international stage, he was always likely to be in demand, particularly given his impending free agency.

He’s had his ups and downs in West Yorkshire, even this season, but he’s always been relied upon by Marcelo Bielsa, evidence in his tally of 35 Premier League appearances so far.

The 29-year-old will be a big miss on and off the field with his lung-busting runs allied to his eccentric personality, but we’re placing faith in Bielsa and Victor Orta that we’re set to move on to bigger and better things.

That means a younger left-back with enormous potential, and we’re excited to see what the summer holds.

Enough has been said about the nature of Alioski’s move to Galatasary after the tragic events of 2000, now it is the time to get behind him and wish him well before his inevitable departure.

We’re hoping he gets a great send-off at Elland Road on Sunday against West Brom.
