Ex-player drops cryptic tweet about Kalvin Phillips future at Leeds United after dinner

Former Sheffield United player Curtis Woodhouse has dropped an exciting hint about Kalvin Phillip’s future as a Leeds United player.

Last night [10 February], Woodhouse took to his personal Twitter account to show a picture of himself with Phillips and Liam Cooper after having dinner with the injured pair plus Stuart Dallas.

Woodhouse, who became a boxer after quitting professional football in 2006, was understandably bombarded with questions from Leeds fans and one asked whether Phillips mentioned anything about staying at Elland Road.

While it’s a rather mysterious tweet from Woodhouse, the signs are definitely good with the Beverley-born ex-midfielder replying with a tick emoji and a gif saying: “The show goes on.”

Not going anywhere

Phillips has had a tough season.

He was brilliant last term to help Leeds finish ninth in the Premier League and then played every single match at the European Championships for England in the summer.

The 26-year-old has always been prone to injuries so it’s no surprise that he’s spent the last couple of months on the sidelines and might not be back until March.

From Leeds’ point of view, it could be a good thing in the long run that Phillips hasn’t played much lately because it may allay some of the interest in him.

There’s no doubt that the England midfielder is going to attract top clubs in the summer transfer window because at the end of the day, he is a Champions League-level player.

Phillips was England’s best player in 2021 and can be a stand-out player for most of the better teams in the Premier League.

We can get a lot of money for him.

West Ham were widely reported to have bid £50million for Phillips in January [The Sun] but we should be looking at over £70million for the midfield star.

Thankfully, it doesn’t seem as though he’s expecting to go anywhere based on Woodhouse’s tweet.
