Diego Llorente transfer update from Spain as Leeds United player gets contract news

Real Betis want to offer Leeds United defender Diego Llorente a long-term contract, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish news outlet reported online (28 June) that Betis are hopeful of convincing the player to join the club by offering a salary which suits him.

Llorente is settled in Italy, where he has been on loan with Roma since January 2023.

Roma want to sign Llorente on loan once again, while Betis would be willing to purchase the 30-year-old, which is more suitable for Leeds.

Will Leeds United defender Diego Llorente sign for Roma or Real Betis?

This is a positive update for the Whites.

One thing is certain, Llorente’s future looks to lie away from Elland Road. He has spent the past year and a half on loan away from the club, and it therefore doesn’t look likely that he will feature for the Whites again.

As a result, they will be looking to secure the best possible deal for the defender, and Betis’ intentions make that a much easier task.

Had it just been Roma in the race, Leeds might have had no choice but to accept their loan proposal.

This wouldn’t have suited the club as Llorente’s contract expires in two years. Therefore, they will be keen to get him off their books this summer to avoid him entering the last year of his deal.

It looks as if all that is left is for Llorente to be convinced by a move to Spain, which hopefully won’t be too difficult based on the contract Betis want to offer.
