David Norris expects Kiko Casilla to quit Leeds United this summer

Ex-Leeds United player David Norris expects to see goalkeeper Kiko Casilla exit Elland Road before the summer transfer window closes.

Casilla, 34, inexplicably still has two years left on his contract at the Yorkshire club.

However, Norris can see the Spanish shot-stopper moving on this summer and claims free agent Paulo Gazzaniga could be a good option to replace him after the Argentine was released by Tottenham.

“I’d expect to see that happen, I think he will probably end up back in Spain, so I expect to see that happen,” Norris told This is Futbol.

“It will be interesting to see who they do go for him [Gazzaniga] as he’s a free agent, so that would be ideal.”

Perfect replacement

Gazzaniga would actually be a decent addition if Casilla does eventually leave Leeds this summer.

While the ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper still has a long time left on his contract at Elland Road, the fact he is barely playing, was banned for racism and is just in general a bad goalkeeper means he needs to be released.

Gazzaniga is a free agent, has experience as being a back-up goalkeeper in the Premier League and was once hailed as “fantastic” by ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino [talkSPORT].

It does make sense.

We’ve not made any secret about our feelings towards Casilla.

Leeds simply need to get rid of the man who disgraced the name of the club during the season we won promotion to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s insistence upon playing him every now and then and even handing him the captain’s armband on one occasion is also a sore topic among Leeds fans. Bielsa’s management of Casilla is arguably the worst part of his reign at Elland Road.

We want to see the back of Casilla and Gazzaniga would be an upgrade and wouldn’t cost a penny to sign.
