Daniel James closing on move to Fulham, agreement for loan deal set - Fabrizio Romano

Daniel James is on the verge of completing a season-long loan move to Fulham from Leeds United, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Whites had been open to the Welsh winger leaving if they were able to sign a replacement first, and with a fee agreed for Bamba Dieng from Marseille this deal is now accelerating quickly.

Romano was speaking on his Twitch stream where he exclusively revealed an agreement between Fulham and James was close, before expanding on the details.

“Fulham are closing on a deal for Daniel James,” he said live on Twitch. “Daniel James from Leeds to Fulham is really close to being completed.

“It’s a loan deal so Daniel James will leave Leeds and join Fulham. The agreement is at the final stages so they’re discussing the final details and then James will undergo a medical as a new Fulham player on loan from Leeds.

“This is because Leeds are going to sign Bamba Dieng from Olympique Marseille for €10m add-ons included. So agreement really close for Daniel James to Fulham.”

What a crazy turn of events, deadline day has probably never been this mental at Elland Road.

Dan James was set to leave, then was expected to stay, then the door was ajar and now an exit looks inevitable all within a matter of days.

It’s probably the right decision though, because he will want regular football ahead of the World Cup later this year and he’s way down the pecking order at Elland Road.

Luis Sinisterra, Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson, Joe Gelhardt and Patrick Bamford are all ahead of him and with Dieng arriving too it just further diminishes his chances of playing.

Crysencio Summerville has got great potential too as a winger and he will get the chance to showcase that eventually, so it’s best for everyone that James leaves just a year after joining.
