Leeds have seemingly made a big transfer decision over the future of Crysencio Summerville, handing him the number 10 shirt after he signed a new deal.

The Dutch winger was on the verge of an Elland Road exit on loan last season, before then-boss Marcelo Bielsa blocked it to keep him as an option for the first-team.

However he featured for just 126 minutes in the Premier League across the season and with just one-year remaining on his Elland Road deal he was expected to leave.

However after long talks the Whites have agreed a new four-year deal to keep the 21-year-old winger at the club, but further to that they have shown their commitment to his development by handing him the number 10 shirt.

Last held by Raphinha, the number 10 is usually handed to a key attacker in the squad and is usually representative of one of the best players at the club.

So handing it to a player at the start of his career is a huge call, but also shows the faith they have in him. Further to that though, it shows they won't be letting him go anywhere this summer either.

Dutch and German clubs had been linked with loan moves as recently as January and would have been circling again if he was made available, but it now seems that Leeds will rely on him for the upcoming season.

Despite the additions of Luis Sinisterra and Brendan Aaronson in attack, as well as Marsch confirming they want to sign a new striker, they clearly have a plan in place for him.

His pacy dribbling, eye for goal and directness is something that the manager will be a big fan of for his style and it's likely that he will now be rotated in and out of the side on a more regular basis.

There is trust there between the club and the player, and the number 10 shirt is another sign of the faith and belief they have in Summerville as a talent.

There will be no loan or exit of any kind for Summerville this month, and he now has the platform to make a space for himself at Elland Road this season.
