Daniel Farke stance on Archie Gray Tottenham transfer shared as Leeds United exit nears

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke doesn’t want to sell Archie Gray to Tottenham, but recognises the club’s financial position, according to The Guardian.

The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (30 June) that although the German is eager to keep the teenager this summer, he understands the Whites have to sell players because of financial fair play rules.

After Gray’s move to Brentford collapsed because the two clubs were unable to agree a payment structure, Spurs are understood to be working on a deal to try and bring the 18-year-old to North London [David Ornstein, 30 June].

There had been reports suggesting Farke was considering his position at Elland Road following the Whites’ decision to sell Gray, however, he was always expected to remain in charge of Leeds [Leeds All Over, 30 June].

Will Daniel Farke exit Leeds United after Archie Gray transfer decision?

No manager wants to see their best players depart in the transfer window and while Farke will be disappointed like the majority of Leeds United supporters, he will understand why this deal simply has to happen.

Any sale of Gray will massively aid the Whites’ financial position after they missed out on promotion from the Championship last season. Not only will it balance the books, but it will give Leeds some money to spend this summer.

Supporters would have likely preferred to have seen one of the likes of Illan Meslier or Crysencio Summerville sold ahead of their homegrown gem, but Leeds can only sell players if offers are actually tabled for their services.

Gray’s Elland Road exit may not have yet been confirmed and there is a belief that the deal still has a way to go before it is concluded, yet it feels almost inevitable that he will be a Tottenham player sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, Farke and his recruitment team will be able to quickly and effectively replace the versatile midfielder ahead of the start of next season.
