Daniel Farke right to push for Ladislav Krejci deal at Leeds after World Cup scenes
Daniel Farke target Ladislav Krejci put in a talismanic performance for his country once again in a sure-fire sign Leeds United are onto a winner.
Czechia would fall to an eventual 2-1 defeat to South Korea in their opening World Cup match in the early hours of Friday morning, but the Wolves defender remained key.
After almost singlehandedly dragging his nation to the finals, Krejci netted the first Czech goal at a World Cup since 2006 - firing home with a bullet header from a Vladimir Coufal cross.
Despite his loan switch to Wolves becoming permanent, Leeds' interest has been mentioned since the final days of the season.
Naturally, caution from fans arises when looking at players on a relegated side.
However, Farke has been proven right on this one, with the Czech captain proving more than capable on the biggest stage.
Daniel Farke has previously demanded Ladislav Krejci push
Joining on loan from Girona last summer, Krejci would make his Wolves debut against the Whites back in September.
Starting in midfield that day, he would open the scoring in the early stages, before Farke's side picked up a 3-1 win at Molineux.
In what ended up being a season of relatively few positives for the Old Gold, Krejci was one of them, having been the only new signing to impress on a consistent basis in the Black Country.
As a result, interest in the £26million man is only natural, with his international performances only driving this up.
At the top of the month, it was reported that Leeds are planning to ramp up their interest in the versatile defender.
With this in mind, Farke is said to be the one driving this, with the Whites boss remaining impressed despite Wolves' relegation to the Championship.
The Black Country club triggered an option to buy clause worth £26m this season, after an appearance figure was met.
The report states that Leeds are unnerved by the fee, and could continue to push for his signature this summer.
Leeds will hope for certain outcome with Krejci
After somewhat going under the radar as a result of the dire circumstances at Molineux, Krejci's World Cup performances could drive up interest across England.
With this in mind, Leeds could well be hoping for a group-stage exit, meaning that there are just three possible matches to fully showcase himself to the world.
Given Farke's current 3-5-2 formation, the signing of the Czech skipper would be an absolute no-brainer.
Comfortable on the ball, Krejci can play in any role across a back three, while he is equally as capable in a four.
Most importantly, he adds another body to be used in midfield when called upon - somewhere he has often been used since his Wolves move.
In a dismal side, he stood out like a sore thumb, while his leadership and importance to his country speaks for itself.
If Leeds and Farke are to add bodies this summer, Krejci should be first on that list, with an early World Cup exit potentially favourable, giving the Whites chance to get a deal over the line sooner rather than later.
