Daniel Farke reject set for return 'home' after barren Leeds United spell
Daniel Farke never quite fancied Facundo Buonanotte during his Leeds United spell.
However, he would once again be unable to get going.
Racking up just 82 minutes in a Leeds shirt, Buonanotte returned to Brighton having made no progress at all last term.
The talent is still there with the 21-year-old, with Chelsea's interest last summer clearly an indicator of that.
However, it is becoming increasingly likely that his future will be away from England.
What is the latest on Facundo Buonanotte's Brighton future?
At the top of the month, Argentine reports suggested that River Plate were interested in a move for the attacking midfielder.
Now, journalist Ariel Porcile has revealed that boyhood club Rosario Central are taking steps to explore a deal.
This is said to rely on whether Brighton see value in a move back home, after a torrid spell at Elland Road.
Buonanotte does remain highly regarded in Argentina despite his recent form, with journalist Porcile believing that clubs in England and Europe could also show interest in the attacker.
However, game time is a must, after registering just 600 minutes of football in the 2025-26 term.
And given Buonanotte's love of Rosario, these links are light at the end of the tunnel for a player who was perhaps somewhat harshly treated.
Buonanotte snub is a testament to prior Leeds work
Arriving in January, Buonanotte joined the club as a potential difference maker as the Whites fought for survival.
Instead, he continued to slip down the pecking order as a result of Leeds' form on the pitch.
After an unfortunate run before the March international break, Farke's side would go on to survive at a relative canter.
Playing some sensational football, the likes of Noah Okafor, Ao Tanaka and more had sealed guaranteed spots, while Buonanotte continued to be left out of the squad.
Leeds recruited well last summer, and the continued improvement over the term, is the reason why the January arrival failed to make an impact in West Yorkshire.
Of course, it is disappointing for the player himself, but it is a testament to the squad building that a player of his ability was kept out of the starting XI at Elland Road.
