Joel Piroe is facing an increasingly uncertain future at Leeds United.

The Dutch striker made a £10million move to Elland Road from Swansea City back in August 2023.

While he missed out on promotion in his first campaign at Leeds, he scored 19 Championship goals in his second season to help seal a return to the Premier League.

However, he made just 16 top-flight appearances last term and only two as a starter, failing to score a goal in any of those matches.

He was linked with an exit back in January, but opted to stay and fight for his place at Leeds.

However, a decision made by Daniel Farke in the 4-2 friendly victory over Liverpool on Sunday means the writing is surely on the wall for the 27-year-old.

Leeds will surely look to sell Joel Piroe after friendly call

Leeds have wrapped up their pre-season tour of the United States, fighting back from 2-0 down to beat Liverpool 4-2 in Chicago on Sunday.

However, what was interesting is that Piroe did not get on the pitch even as a substitute against the Reds.

Piroe started the first game of the tour against Wrexham, and was on target in a 3-2 defeat, while he came on in the 1-0 win over Sunderland.

But Piroe was the only senior member of the Leeds bench not to enter the fray against Liverpool in a decision that speaks volumes.

Sky Sports News has reported that Piroe and Willy Gnonto are likely to be sold this summer.

And Farke's decision not to even use him off the bench, suggests that he does not foresee a use for him in the coming campaign.

Who could replace at Leeds?

It is little secret that Leeds have been looking for another forward to supplement Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

MOT Leeds News has covered reports about what's been said about a potential Piroe exit from Leeds this summer.

Chelsea striker Liam Delap's is a name that keeps cropping up, though as things stand it appears unlikely he will make the move to Elland Road.

Burnley's Zion Flemming and Marseille's Igor Paixao - linked with a move to Leeds last summer - are among those linked with a switch.

What is evidently clear is that if Leeds can get another forward in the building, then Piroe's situation looks even more dismal.
