Daniel Farke is a big fan of Gabriel Gudmundsson, and like most Leeds United fans, would be sad to see him go this summer.

The Whites are preparing to make their first signings of the summer, though exits will also be required.

There is uncertainty around several top players including the likes of Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto and Pascal Struijk.

However, one man who would never have come into question this summer is Gudmundsson.

The Swede has been a regular starter at left-wing back over the past 12 months, and is one of the first names on the teamsheet.

But Chelsea are now interested in signing Gudmundsson, and Leeds may have to say goodbye to an Elland Road favourite.

Daniel Farke knows how important Gabriel Gudmundsson is to Leeds

According to Swedish outlet Expressen, Gudmundsson could have a "dream" move as he's been placed on Chelsea's transfer list.

This comes after the Blues agreed to sell Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid recently, as a replacement is needed at Stamford Bridge.

Having only signed for the Whites around a year ago, it would be a surprise to see Gudmundsson move on so early.

Farke is big on the 27-year-old and publicly stated how important he is to the Whites after he scored an own goal in a 1-0 defeat to Fulham back in September.

The Leeds boss said: "He needs an arm round his shoulder and no words. He was excellent today, with an excellent performance. He was so crucial for our game, a top performance.

"That he's there with the spotlight is unlucky for him. He was the most disappointed guy in the dressing room. He doesn't need any criticism."

Gudmundsson is seen as a "crucial" part of Leeds' team, and so any possible sale will be against internal plans in LS11 this summer.

Leeds have contract advantage for Gudmundsson sale

The harsh reality for Leeds is that Chelsea could offer Gudmundsson much more money than he's earning at Elland Road.

But the Whites will take confidence that they can set a high price tag due to the Swedish international's long-term contract at the club, which runs until 2029.

If Leeds were forced into a sale, the blow of his exit could be softened by any potential fee heading the way of Paraag Marathe's pockets.

He's currently at the World Cup with Sweden, and if he does well, that could also cause a hike in his value.
