Crysencio Summerville top of the list to exit Leeds United after Brighton transfer update
Leeds United selling Crysencio Summerville to Brighton for around £30million would be “a good deal”, according to Alex Crook.
talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent spoke to Jeff Stelling and Alan Pardew (18 June, 8:50am) on the speculation surrounding Summerville after Brighton made an approach to sign the Whites winger (Fabrizio Romano, 17 June).
Crook added that the Dutch forward is fancied by several Premier League clubs this summer, and seems destined to depart Elland Road after Leeds’ loss in the Championship play-off final [Leeds Live].
He said: “I think there were always going to be players from that squad who would head for the exit; Summerville right at the top of that list.
“I think it’d be a good move for him, obviously they’ve (Brighton) got a new manager. But don’t expect them to have a free run at Summerville, a lot of Premier League clubs have him on their radar.
“It’s going to be a good deal for Leeds, I think they’re pricing him at around £30million, so money to reinvest in their squad potentially.”
Leeds United to bargain hard in Crysencio Summerville transfer
The Whites’ 1-0 loss to Southampton at Wembley on 26 May means another season in the second tier, and the belt-tightening of finances that inevitably comes with playing in the Championship.
Despite having to sell some high-profile players this summer, Leeds’ transfer policy has been massively boosted by Red Bull coming on board as a club sponsor and minor stakeholder [Last Word on Sports].
The money brought about by that partnership could be the difference between a player like Summerville being sold on the cheap or for his asking price, and the club must ensure they stick rigidly to the latter.

Summerville is unlikely to want to spend another season in the second tier having won the Championship Player of the Year award, but unlike last summer’s chaotic exodus of loanees, Daniel Farke will be in a much stronger position to demand he only departs for his market value.
The return of Brenden Aaronson and potential signing of Regina playmaker Natan Girma could boost Leeds’ options in attack, but that doesn’t mean the Whites shouldn’t try and squeeze every last penny out of Brighton, or any other club trying to sign their star number 10 [Il Resto del Carlino].
In other Leeds United news, Jack Harrison’s permanent transfer could be on the cards after recent Everton developments.
