Crysencio Summerville exit update at Leeds United after Chelsea transfer news
Chelsea and Liverpool have remained interested in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, with talks expected to begin soon, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian transfer specialist reported via X [1 June] that both Premier League giants have been monitoring the 22-year-old this season and have shown interest, though nothing is advanced yet.
While the Whites would be against losing one of their star players this summer, the club reportedly need to raise upwards of £100million in player sales after missing out on promotion to the Premier League. [Daily Mail]
Chelsea and Liverpool circle as Crysencio Summerville nears Leeds United exit
Leeds’ coffers have been boosted by the news Red Bull have bought a minority stake in the club, but there is still the possibility some of their big-name stars could move on this this summer after they lost the Championship playoff final to Southampton.
Summerville is very likely to be one of those, especially after the sensational season he has had in England’s second tier, notching 19 goals and nine assists in 43 league appearances.
Due to this, the player’s price tag is reportedly set at between £35million and £40million, according to The Sun, which could be a defining factor in which of the teams goes through with the big-money signing.
Of course, the Whites would much prefer to keep all their prized assets, such as Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Wilfried Gnonto, but keeping hold of all their star talents will be extremely difficult.
Summerville is one of the few talents who has already proven himself in the Premier League, having impressed in a few games during the 2022/23 campaign and has only developed since then.
Whichever club manages to secure the young forward’s signature this summer will certainly have an exciting prospect on their hands, leaving Daniel Farke short on attacking options next season.
The German will still be expected to secure promotion, however, with the thought of another season in the Championship too much to bear after the play-off final heartbreak.
In other Leeds news, the club want to sign this Chelsea defender on a season-long loan.
