Conrad Harder: Meet the Leeds United transfer target who did overtime with Michael Essien

Conrad Harder has emerged as a top target for Leeds United ahead of the transfer window deadline.

The Whites have been keen on adding a new striker to their ranks all summer, and have taken steps to do so ahead of the deadline.

Harder is a typical physical forward that Daniel Farke prefers, though he would add youthfulness and another outlet at the top end of the pitch.

It's understood that Serie A side Lazio have made a loan-to-buy bid for the ex-Denmark international, who could depart Germany in a matter of days.

Harder only managed to score three goals in all competitions for Leipzig last season, though his backstory shows the commitment will get him far in the long career that lies ahead of him.

As highlighted by Sky Sports Italia in 2025, Harder learned from Premier League and Chelsea legend Michael Essien during his time at Nordsjaelland.

It's said that the young forward used to stay behind for 20 minutes after each training session to specifically practice his volleys from crosses for an entire season with Essien.

Harder's nickname is "mosquito", earned by his reputation to "annoy" defenders with his constant movement on the pitch, something which the Whites sometimes lack in the final third.

RB Leipzig stance on Harder exit as major release clause resurfaces

It's not known whether Harder would be open to leaving Germany, let alone make the move to LS11, but with mere days left of the window, he will have to make a decision.

His employers have reportedly left the door open for his exit, and Leeds may seek terms on a loan or permanent deal.

Though the number nine hasn't had the best joy in Germany, he excelled with Sporting CP in Portugal after a move from Nordsjaelland.

As reported by Sportscafe in February of 2025, Harder had a whopping £67m release clause in his Sporting contract last year before moving to RB Leipzig.

He was attracting interest from both Manchester United and Chelsea, which proves Leeds have the background to take an educated gamble on the promising striker.
