Connor Douglas agrees terms to leave Leeds for another Yorkshire club
Connor Douglas has completed a move after being released by Leeds United.
The Whites announced a raft of departures earlier in June as their retained list was posted.
Illan Meslier was the only confirmed first-team departure, while four academy players faced the exit door.
Devon Brockie, Lewis Pirie and Marley Wilson were let go, while Darryl Ombang was offered new terms.
Douglas followed them out the door and has since been on the lookout for a new club.
The 20-year-old has now completed the next step in his career while remaining in Yorkshire.
Connor Douglas seals Halifax Town switch
The winger only signed his first professional contract in LS11 back in 2024, but things just haven't worked out.
He may have made over 54 appearances for the under-21's side at Thorp Arch, but that never translated into the first-team.
He spent the second half of last season out on loan with Buxton in National League North where he seemingly caught the eye.
Halifax Town of the National League have now confirmed the signing of Douglas on a free transfer.
The Yorkshire club have spoke of their delight to sign the attacker ready for the upcoming campaign.
What could the future hold for Douglas?
When a young player departs, it is always a blow as there will have been such high hopes at one stage.
Douglas has been a regular in the academy sides in LS11 and will have been expected to make a step up after signing a pro contract.
That hasn't happened, but he now has another chance to prove himself as a first-team star in non-league.
He will hope that he can realise his potential with Halifax and potentially earn himself a move into the EFL at some stage.
At 20 he has a long career ahead of them and there could be a way for him to find his way back to Leeds.
That would all massively depend on the progress that both make in the coming years.
The Whites won't have any sort of clause to bring him back after releasing him this summer, so many factors will impact a potential return down the line.
