Chelsea set for deadly push to seal Archie Gray transfer at Leeds United

Any Chelsea attempts to sign Leeds United stars Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville are now “even more deadly,” according to LeedsLive.

The online outlet reported on 1 July that the Blues can now “ramp up their spending” thanks to the Premier League’s PSR deadline now passing.

This means that the London-based club won’t be as held back as to what they can do due to having another year to balance out their books.

Why Leeds United should let Archie Gray go this summer

Over the weekend there was a massive transfer saga around the future of Gray.

It was initially thought that the youngster was set for a move to Brentford after travelling to the club for his medical [Graham Smyth, 29 June].

However, in the 11th hour, Leeds rejected their proposal and the deal was seemingly off.

Then, in came Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur. The North London club made a similar push and are now seemingly the leading candidate for his transfer [David Ornstein, 30 June].

Although it would pain the Whites’ fans to see Gray potentially leave this summer, the reported fee of £40m is a huge amount of money and would allow the club to reinvest.

And, a transfer from Tottenham could open the door for one or both Joe Rodon and Oliver Skipp to make the move to the second tier.

This would improve Leeds’ chances of promotion tenfold and give Daniel Farke’s side the best chance possible.
