Leeds United ready for more talks to sign Brenden Aaronson after £20million bid
Leeds United expect their £20million bid for Brenden Aaronson to be rejected by Red Bull Salzburg, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The newspaper reported on 23 January [page 151] that Leeds are set to hold further talks to sign the 21-year-old midfielder, who’s their number one target for the rest of the January transfer window.
It is understood that Salzburg want the USA international to stay in Austria for the rest of the season.
Late January deal
It seems as though Leeds’ pursuit of Aaronson is going to go into the final week of the January transfer window.
It’s very disappointing that deals have not been sorted out already, especially after such a poor defeat at home against relegation-threatened Newcastle.
We didn’t just need one attacking midfielder this month, we needed a couple of additions in the centre of the park and maybe even a striker due to Patrick Bamford’s continual injury issues.
Aaronson should be a good signing but it looks as though a deal for him is going to be a very costly one.
Rodrigo and Daniel James are the club’s most expensive signings of all time and both cost over £25million.
It seems that Aaronson could become at least the third biggest signing in Leeds’ history based on the £20million bid being rejected by Salzburg.
Leeds have to be sure about this one. It’ll be a very expensive mistake to make if Aaronson doesn’t settle how we’d hope him to as some our January buys in recent years have been woeful.
