Brenden Aaronson to have clubs queuing up to sign him from Leeds United

Jesse Marsch believes there will be plenty of interest in Brenden Aaronson should Leeds United look to sell him in the summer transfer window.

The American moved to Elland Road in July 2022 after being tracked by an “obsessed” Marcelo Bielsa in the January before.

He departed on loan to Union Berlin under a cloud after Leeds were relegated and now a permanent exit looks likely.

Speaking on CBS Sports’ Call It What You Want podcast, his former manager Marsch has suggested he won’t be short of suitors if he wants to leave.

He said: “I know the fans were really hard on all the players that left, that had clauses in their contracts to either get loaned out or were sold. I’m not sure what’s going on with the club.

“There will be plenty of suitors around Europe. One thing we know is he needs to get back to playing regular minutes. He’s a really quality player.”

Should Leeds United sell Brenden Aaronson?

It must be said that the American attacker has struggled in the Bundesliga while on loan this season from Elland Road.

He was only afforded 12 starts and a further 16 substitute appearances and in that time he has scored two and assisted one [FotMob].

Aaronson’s underlying stats don’t shout out much either to provide any potentially positive outlooks on this season.

He has completed 27 dribbles this season which is okay, but with just a 42.9 per cent success rate he could certainly improve.

Defensively he has been more positive with 17 tackles and 88 duels won, while he has recovered the ball 81 times throughout his 1,129 Bundesliga minutes.

Although this is more positive, his forward output has to be better as an attacking-minded midfielder, which doesn’t seem to be there.

If Crysencio Summerville departs in the summer, Aaronson could prove to be a useful replacement option potentially.

Considering he signed for £24.9million [Sky Sports], he needs to be given a chance especially if Leeds are in the Championship.
