Brenden Aaronson sends new message as Leeds United ready sale at Elland Road

Leeds United loanee Brenden Aaronson has sent a farewell message to Union Berlin fans on Instagram, as his parent club prepare to sell him at the end of the season.

Aaronson’s Instagram post thanked the Bundesliga club’s fans for his time in the German capital, but returns to Elland Road seemingly nowhere near the plans of Leeds manager Daniel Farke.

The Whites face Southampton in the Championship play-off final on 26 May with a place in the Premier League at stake, but regardless of their divisional status next season, it appears a summer sale for Aaronson is on the cards.

Farke’s side look guaranteed to make a heavy loss on the USMNT international regardless of if they’re in the first or second tier, with his reported value more than halving from the £24.7million fee paid to bring him to Elland Road in 2022.

Brenden Aaronson appears set for Leeds United departure

Leeds United will hold all the cards if they manage to beat Southampton to the Premier League this Sunday, a far cry from the chaos of last summer.

Aaronson was one of several players, including 2020 promotion winner Jack Harrison, to activate loan clauses in their contracts allowing them to leave Elland Road temporarily, following the Peacocks’ relegation to the Championship.

Marc Roca is another player with uncertainty over his future regardless of Farke’s side making an immediate top-flight return, but it appears that Aaronson looks increasingly likely to follow him out the door.

Union Berlin began the season as a Champions League side and ended it by surviving relegation on the final day, calling into question whether they’ll have the financial ability to bring Aaronson back to the Bundesliga, even if his value has taken a hit.

Either way, it seems that the American’s brief time at Leeds is over, and as a whole host of loanees return to LS11 with tails between their legs, Aaronson is one who the club seem certain to get off the books.
