Bobby Clark decides on Leeds offer as loan deal finalised

Leeds United had shown a keen interest in signing Bobby Clark in recent transfer windows.

The 20-year-old was up for grabs last summer as a departure from Liverpool looked increasingly likely moving into the campaign.

That was the case, with Daniel Farke’s side linked to the midfielder’s signature before he ultimately opted to join RB Salzburg instead.

After a move to Austria didn’t truly work out, Clark was on the move again, but has once again decided to snub the Elland Road club in favour of a loan move elsewhere.

Having made six appearances in the Champions League last campaign, there is no getting away from the quality that the Englishman could add in LS11.

This would especially be the case given that the Yorkshire club have already brought Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach into the midfield conversation.

With that being said, a third signing in the middle of the park with the former Liverpool youngster could have proven to be a shrude piece of business.

Unfortunately for Farke and Co., Clark has instead opted to join Championship outfit Derby County on a season-long loan from Salzburg.

This has seen the Chronicle report (6 August) that the England under-19 international turned down a switch to Leeds and Sunderland to instead move to Pride Park.

The one-time League Cup winner has gone in search of regular first-team football in the second tier, moving into the new season.

It has been suggested that a move to Newcastle United would have been the only one to turn his head in terms of a rotation option within a squad.

There is no doubt that the 2005-born ace represents an excellent piece of business for John Eustace’s side in the Championship.

It says a lot that Clark would have been a useful asset for the Whites if he were to come in as an addition to the squad in the Premier League.

As a result, it will be greatly frustrating to miss out on the loan signing, especially with barely a week remaining until the opening day of the campaign.

Unless another target can be found and brought in, additional pressure will be piled on the likes of Ilia Gruev and Ao Tanaka to step up for Leeds in the top tier.
