Bielsa feels Huddersfield ace Lewis O’Brien would be good addition at Leeds United

Marcelo Bielsa thinks Huddersfield midfielder Lewis O’Brien would be a good addition at Leeds United, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The Sun reported on Sunday that Leeds have intensified their talks to sign the 22-year-old after missing out on a loan swoop for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

It is understood the Whites will have to pay £10million for O’Brien while players could also be offered to Huddersfield in a potential part-exchange deal.

Writing on Twitter on Tuesday, Nixon added that Bielsa feels O’Brien would be a good signing for his Leeds side this summer when asked for his opinion on a possible swoop for the Colchester-born central midfielder.

If Bielsa wants him, so do we

It’s easy to have reservations about a player like O’Brien.

Not many Leeds fans will have heard of the ex-Bradford loanee, let alone know enough about him to suggest he’d be a strong addition to Bielsa’s squad at Elland Road.

However, Bielsa and Victor Orta will know more about O’Brien than any of us combined and we totally trust those two to get it right when it comes to signing a new central midfielder.

O’Brien has 120 league appearances to his name at both Huddersfield and Bradford and last term, the midfielder won the Terriers’ player of the year award as he scored three goals and supplied three assists in 42 Championship outings.

He’s also started this season well as on Sunday, he netted the match-winner in a penalty shoot-out victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup first round.

In that match, WhoScored decided O’Brien was the man of the match as he completed 81 per cent of passes, won two aerial duels, one interception and a huge eight tackles.

O’Brien is cool, calm and collected in possession while he’s also a real handful for opposition players when they have the ball too.

We could do a lot worse than the Essex-born midfielder.

In other Leeds United news, this forward has decided on his next club after the Whites pushed all the way to sign him.
