Belgian journalist drops new update on Leeds United and midfielder Nicolas Raskin
Leeds United have not been in discussions to sign Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin, according to Kevin Sauvage.
The DH Les Sports journalist reported via his personal Twitter account on Sunday that there is nothing in a report by The Mirror which claims Leeds have agreed a fee to sign the 20-year-old Belgian.
The Mirror reported via their print edition on 16 January [page 73] that a £6million fee was agreed to sign Raskin and that his move could be completed within the coming days.
Clearly, that does not seem to be the case with MOT Leeds News told that Sauvage is an extremely reliable source of information when it comes to Standard Liege.
Out of nowhere
We were definitely a bit shocked this morning to see Raskin’s name not only linked with a move to Leeds but The Mirror reporting that he’s set to sign for us in a matter of days.
Raskin’s name isn’t one that has cropped up before and we usually see plenty of stories about players before they do eventually sign for Leeds.
But, it seems as though whoever reported this has jumped the gun.
Leeds may well be interested in Raskin and this update from Belgium doesn’t mean that we’re not going to sign him.
We’re just not going to sign him yet.
Leeds do need to press on with their business this month though.
All it takes is a positive COVID test for a transfer target in the last week of the January window to see a bid derail as a medical cannot be done.
Leeds have to get deals done in this next week.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ready to make a bid for this £8million-rated central midfielder from an in-form English side.
