Bayern Munich want Leeds star Raphinha despite ‘numerous denials’

Bayern Munich have been named as a new entry in the race to sign Leeds United winger Raphinha, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italian news outlet claims that despite “numerous denials” by Leeds and Raphinha, Bayern have shown “desire” towards signing the 24-year-old, who’s lit up the Premier League with his performances this season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds this week, Victor Orta confirmed there’s been no approach for Raphinha and dubbed speculation as “clickbait”.

Orta missing the point

Manchester United, Liverpool and now Bayern Munich have all been linked with Raphinha with reports, like this one from CalcioMercato, claiming those clubs are interested.

Just because Leeds haven’t received an approach from another club doesn’t mean that those clubs are not interested in Raphinha.

Let’s face it, players who don’t have other clubs interested in signing them are not performing well and Raphinha is the polar opposite of that at Elland Road this season.

He’s been phenomenal since joining the Whites from Rennes in September, scoring five goals and supplying five assists in 22 Premier League appearances.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds last month, Noel Whelan claimed Raphinha is “just incredible to watch” and added that the Brazilian winger is “involved in everything”.

Raphinha is an absolute credit to Leeds and guess what? Other clubs are going to be interested in signing him, even if Orta dismisses that.

Leeds’ director of football wants to allay concerns about the winger possibly leaving but we’re guessing there are clubs who are very, very interested in him. However, we’re also sure that the Whites won’t be selling him any time soon.

In other Leeds United news, this Chelsea star is very likely to miss out on Saturday.
