Archie Gray agrees Tottenham terms as Leeds United to finalise transfer package

Archie Gray has agreed personal terms with Tottenham as he edges closer to a Leeds United exit, according to Ben Jacobs.

Writing on his personal X account (1 July), the journalist reports that the transfer package is now being finalised between the two clubs after the 18-year-old’s move to Brentford collapsed over payment terms.

Tottenham are expected to pay around £40milion [Nizaar Kinsella, 29 June], with any deal still able to go towards the Elland Road PSR calculations for 2023/24 despite the 30 June deadline passing.

Daniel Farke has huge job on his hands to replace Archie Gray at Leeds United

A move to Brentford always seemed wrong for Gray because he’s better than that level and if he was going to leave his boyhood club it would have to be for the top.

Tottenham have Champions League ambitions and while Gray is excellent, the chances of him playing regularly for a side playing in the Champions League were slim because of the abundance of talent and quality they have in their squad.

However, Spurs’ squad is in the midst of a total rebuild and Gray is seen as a key target which would suggest he will get plenty of game time.

But he will leave behind a huge hole in the squad at Elland Road, and Daniel Farke now faces a huge task to find a way to fill that gap while also dealing with a host of other key players potentially leaving too.

Crysencio Summerville is also expected to move, while Ethan Ampadu, Glen Kamara and Wilfried Gnonto have all been linked, in what will be a busy summer.
