Angus Kinnear confirms player will exit Leeds in January

Angus Kinnear has confirmed that Jack Clarke will leave Leeds United in January after being recalled by Tottenham.

Clarke, 19, was signed on a permanent basis by Spurs in the summer but was instantly sent back to Elland Road on a season-long loan.

However the teenage attacker has since made just one appearance in the Championship for Leeds and appears to have had his loan deal terminated by Spurs due to his lack of game-time.

Kinnear confirmed the development in the matchday programme ahead of Leeds’ Boxing Day showdown against Preston.

“We thank Jack Clarke for his services and wish him the best of luck in his career as Spurs have confirmed, due to lack of playing time, he will be recalled in the January window,” said Kinnear, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Clarke has had a really tough time since returning to Leeds due to the fact that Marcelo Bielsa has a wealth of loanees in his squad.

Jack Harrison, Ben White, Helder Costa, Illan Meslier and Eddie Nketiah are all ever-presents in Bielsa’s matchday squad and he is only able to name five of them at a time.

Unfortunately for Clarke, he was not seen as important as any of them and that is totally understandable.

Last season, Clarke did really well when he first burst onto the scene and made a series of game-changing appearances for the Whites.

However after he collapsed on the bench at Middlesbrough, there was definitely a worrying decline in his form.

Leeds did well to get what they did from Tottenham for the youngster but we do hope that he goes on to become a top-class player.
