Adrian Durham tips Matheus Pereira to quit West Brom amid new Leeds United interest

Adrian Durham is tipped Matheus Pereira to quit West Brom in the summer with recent speculation linking the Brazilian with a move to Leeds United.

The Express has this week reported that Leeds are among a number of clubs who are interested in the £20million-rated playmaker, who’s impressed at West Brom this season despite their relegation from the Premier League.

Pereira has done so well at The Hawthorns that it’s led to talkSPORT host Durham claiming that the attacking midfielder would be playing well below his level in the Championship if he stays at the Baggies into next season.

“With West Brom I will be amazed if they keep Pereira but I think that is the key,” Durham told talkSPORT, as transcribed by the Birmingham Mail.

“I don’t think the key is Sam Allardyce, I don’t think the key is anything else.

“If they keep Pereira then they have a chance of coming straight back up but I just cannot see him staying at Albion, he is way too good for the Championship.”

No-brainer

Pereira has been in stunning form for West Brom ever since he first arrived there on an initial loan deal at the start of last season.

He did so well in the Championship, scoring eight goals and supplying 20 assists in 42 appearances to help the Baggies win promotion.

In the Premier League, Pereira’s improved his goalscoring output, netting 10 times in 31 league appearances this season, as well as supplying five assists.

Last season, Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi described Pereira as being “unplayable” and having “immense talent” that was showcased in the second-tier.

It may have taken him a few months but Pereira has now taken to life in the Premier League and has proven himself to be more than capable of playing for an ambitious club like Leeds United.

Shall we sign him in the summer?

Absolutely.

Pereira is better than any of our existing attacking midfielders while he can also play out on the right if Raphinha is ever injured or suspended.

If we have an attack of Raphinha, Pereira, Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford next season we’ll definitely finish higher up in the league than this term.

In other Leeds United news, it’s been reported whether Patrick Bamford wants to stay at Elland Road amid interest from Liverpool
