Leeds United owners are set to hand Daniel Farke a double transfer raid as a welcome present as the new boss gets closer to confirmation, with Nat Phillips and Karl Darlow linked.

Leeds United have held an interest in Liverpool defender Nat Phillips this summer, although they now face competition from Feyenoord [The Athletic, 4 July], with a £10million price tag set by his current employers.

Karl Darlow is also a name Leeds have been in talks over, as it has been reported that a battle is underway between Leeds and Bournemouth for the goalkeeper's signature, with the Yorkshire side offering big wages to tempt the Newcastle man.

49ers are keen to get things moving at Leeds

After a turbulent start to the summer, the 49ers are set to begin their reign with Farke ready to be announced as the new manager and will look to welcome these two players alongside their new manager, as they get things moving at last.

Spending £10million on Phillips alongside a deal for Darlow, from which Newcastle expect a fee as well as the high wages on offer, will be a good way to kickstart their transfer window, which has only seen sales until now.

Concerns had started to grow surrounding the 49ers takeover, with the deal dragging on much longer than most had expected, but a double signing alongside the manager announcement is sure to win back fans' trust.

Farke will look to bring stability to Leeds during a summer of uncertainty, with a number of players expected to leave Elland Road, and they will need replacing with quality options if Leeds want to bounce straight back up.

49ers now look to be proactively recruiting for positions they lack numbers in, with Phillips key following the departures of Robin Koch to Frankfurt [The Athletic, 3 July] and Diego Llorente to Roma [Gazzetta dello Sport, 4 July], both on loan deals.

The window is ready to be kickstarted.
