Sky Sports pundit claims there would be 'uproar' if Leeds miss out on 'fabulous opportunity'
Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie has suggested there would be uproar if the likes of Leeds United and West Brom weren’t able to complete their seasons.
The former Aston Villa midfielder admitted that the Whites and West Brom have a fabulous opportunity for promotion with only nine games left to play in the Championship.
Leeds currently sit top of the table with a seven-point gap to Fulham in third, missing the chance to play the Cottagers at Elland Road on Wednesday.
Hendrie admitted that every game needs to be fulfilled, but that the main priority is the health and safety of everyone involved.
“We can talk about the Premier League but the Championship has been so tight,” he said on Sky Sports Football Centre [19/03, 09:10 am].
“It’s a fabulous opportunity for West Brom to get promoted and Leeds, who have been there pretty much the whole season.

“And to see that wouldn’t be fulfilled again, I just feel there would just be so much uproar in sport and football. They have to get these games fulfilled, the health and safety of everyone associated is the main priority.”
It is the number one priority to be safe, but also to get the Championship finished, no matter when. Leeds have the best chance to get promoted in almost two decades and were in the best form they have been in this season before the suspension.
Prediction expert Nate Silver revealed that the Whites stood a 98% chance of securing promotion to the Premier League before the break, and six points against Cardiff and Fulham could have made that even bigger – if possible.
With no current idea of when the Football League could return, we will never know what could happen, but we wait with our fingers crossed.
