Everton star ruled out of clash v Leeds after major injury blow in training - report
Everton will be without Lucas Digne when they play against Leeds United at Goodison Park on Saturday after the left-back suffered an injury in training, according to France Football.
The French news outlet claims the 27-year-old has injured his ankle at Finch Farm and will miss two months of action while he recovers.
It is understood that a decision will be made on whether Digne will have to undergo surgery in the coming days.
While it is up in the air as to whether Digne will have an operation on his ankle, it seems certain that he will miss Everton’s clash against Leeds this weekend.
We don’t want to see anyone get injuries – especially the best players in the Premier League – but this news definitely comes as a boost for Marcelo Bielsa and his side.
Digne has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees this season, assisting four goals in his eight Premier League outings.
He assisted twice last week when Everton beat Fulham 3-2 at Craven Cottage and stats by WyScout show that only two players in Europe’s top five leagues have made more crosses than the France international this season [54].
In the Premier League, he averages more crosses than any other player per 90 minutes [6.4].
According to transfermarkt, Digne has assisted three of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goals this season so the England striker’s ability to score against Leeds is going to be impeded by Digne’s absense.
This is massive news for both teams ahead of Leeds’ trip to Merseyside this weekend.
In other Leeds United news, fans have hit out at this “clown” of a pundit for his on-air rant about the Whites.
