Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Bogusz has tested positive for COVID-19 while on loan at UD Logrones, the Spanish club has confirmed.
In a statement on their official website, Logrones announce that 19-year-old Bogusz, as well as Ander Vitoria, and José Luis García ‘Zelu’ and ex-Leeds youngster Ousama Siddiki have also received positive tests.
Thankfully, Longrones confirm in their statement that all players are in “good physical condition” and have started a period of self-isolation at their homes.
Bogusz loan going well until new setback
We don’t want to see anyone receive a positive COVID-19 test so we hope that Bogusz remains free of any symptoms and can return to action with Logrones as soon as possible.
Leeds haven’t had the best recent history of sending players on loan to Spanish clubs but since signing for Logrones in October, Poland Under-21 international Bogusz has had quite a decent time.
The young midfielder, who’s played three times for Leeds’ senior side, has made 14 appearances in all competitions for Logrones this season with 13 of those coming in the Spanish Segunda Division.
He’s also scored one goal, which came against Rayo Vallecano last month, and supplied one assist for his loan club.
It remains to be seen what impact this regular game-time will have on Bogusz’s development but there’s no doubt that it will be doing him the world of good.
We read a lot about Leeds sending players out on loan and them not getting much game-time with Rafa Mujica good example at Real Oviedo this season.
Bogusz has been getting on just fine until this setback though and we hope he stays safe and returns to action as soon as possible.
In other Leeds United news, Steve McManaman was furious with a “ridiculous” incident involving a Whites player in the win over Newcastle.
