Wilfried Gnonto exit increasingly on the cards at Leeds United as Javi Gracia makes mind up for Italy ace

A summer transfer is increasingly on the cards for Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto, with the youngster failing to break into Javi Gracia’s first team.

The 19-year-old, who was hugely impressive in the early stages of the campaign under Jesse Marsch, is seemingly not in the thoughts of the current manager at all.

Despite several occasions calling for the youngster’s clear talents, Gnonto has not been allowed to showcase his ability in recent weeks.

The latest frustration comes as the Italian was left on the bench for the entirety of the 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Tuesday (25 April).

The teenager, who has four goals and three assists in his debut campaign in England, was forced to watch on from the bench as the Whites continued their league struggles at home to the Foxes.

Even with an early injury to Luis Sinisterra, Gnonto and most inside the stadium could only look on in shock as Gracia opted to bring on fellow youngster Crysencio Summerville.

Another attacker in Rodrigo was then replaced in the second half, but again Gnonto was overlooked, this time for Brenden Aaronson. It means the attacker has been handed just 53 minutes from the club’s last four league matches.

Worryingly for the Whites, but not at all worrying for the player himself, Gnonto seemingly has plenty of suitors if he does force an exit from Elland Road.

Serie A clubs Juventus, AS Roma, AC Milan, Napoli and Atalanta are all chasing his signature this summer, as per 90min, who also report that Gnonto is considering quitting Elland Road after just one season to return to Italy.

And they have definitely been handed a major boost in their reported pursuit amid the lack of minutes for the winger in recent times, with many Leeds fans left scratching their heads at the absence of their young star.

Questions have been raised about issues such as fitness or problems behind the scenes, but the youngster is 100% fit and “available full strength”, a source told LUFCFANZONE.

The only real positive in any exit from the club’s point of view would be the fee that they can get for the exciting attacker. He is by no means the finished product, but all the signs are there that a very promising player is in the making.

Leeds have already watched fellow winger Raphinha leave for pastures new in recent times, with fans desperate that their beloved club does not make a similar mistake with Gnonto.

In other Leeds United news, Clinton Morrison has slammed one Whites player after he produced a “naughty” tackle on James Maddison during the 1-1 draw with Leicester.
