Wilfried Gnonto axed as injury update emerges – Leeds United predicted XI v Millwall
Leeds United have the chance to overtake Leicester City at the top of the Championship table with a victory over Millwall on Sunday (17 March).
Daniel Farke will have selection headaches against the Lions, with the Whites’ manager revealing that Jamie Shackelton and Jaidon Anthony are back in contention, while Pascal Struijk faces a potential season-ending injury.
With Enzo Maresca’s Foxes facing Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final, a victory at Elland Road could see Leeds overtake the league leaders as the promotion race continues to heat up.
Leeds United need Ethan Ampadu more than ever after Pascal Struijk update
Though Karl Darlow has returned to full fitness recently, it is difficult to see Illan Meslier dropped from the lineup, with the centre-back partnership of Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon also likely to start.
Archie Gray could be handed his 33rd Championship start of the season, with Junior Firpo occupying the opposite full-back berth on the left after grabbing a fine assist against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday 8 March.
With Ampadu needed in defence due to Struijk’s absence, Ilian Gruev and Glen Kamara should continue at the base of midfield, having formed one of the strongest duos in the league in recent weeks.
Wilfried Gnonto to face axe for Dan James despite Sheffield Wednesday display
In the attacking half of the pitch, changes are hard to come by. However, Farke could make his only change to the 11 that started against the Owls, replacing Wilfried Gnonto with Dan James.

Although the Italian scored against the Owls in Leeds’ last outing, that does not cement his spot in the starting XI, with James axed after playing 90 minutes and scoring against Stoke City on Tuesday 5 March.
This would leave Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Patrick Bamford as the other three attackers in the Leeds lineup to take on Millwall at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have already started scouting a defender who plans to return to England in the summer transfer window.
