Patrick Bamford exit set as Leeds United get transfer boost

Leeds United appear to be handed a huge boost in their January transfer pursuit of Aston Villa attacker Louie Barry.

While Derby County are also in the race with Leeds, one club that have seemed to step out of it are fellow Championship club Middlesbrough, according to the Northern Echo on 24 December.

Leeds United must quickly make a move for Louie Barry

Middlesbrough taking themselves out of the running means the Whites have one less club to worry about in the pursuit of the English attacker.

Barry can play across the forward line and guarantees goals and availability – something that cannot be said about some of the players at Elland Road.

While he’s mainly thrived in a League One setting at Stockport County, he could do a good job in the Championship too.

Patrick Bamford now seems free to leave Leeds

Wrexham are keen on signing Patrick Bamford [Olly Dawes, 23 December] and given his lack of game time this season, it’s evident Daniel Farke does not rate him that highly either.

The Englishman is also on high wages at the club and given the fact that he’s played just 102 league minutes this season and all his eight appearances have been off the bench, he is not justified being among the top earners.

Should the Whites succeed in their pursuit of Barry, the 31-year-old Bamford is a player who must be immediately shown the door.

In other Leeds United news, Manchester United are now keen on securing the services of a Whites first-team regular in January.
