Ouasim Bouy needs to update Instagram profile with Leeds United exit imminent
You would be forgiven for forgetting that Ouasim Bouy is still on the books at Leeds United but the midfielder’s forgettable stay at Elland Road is finally coming to an end.
In a statement on the Leeds website at the end of last month, the Yorkshire club officially announced that Bouy, 28, will be leaving at the end of June when his contract expires.
Director of football Victor Orta signed Bouy on a four-year deal in 2017 after being released by Juventus.

Back then, he was seen as a fairly young midfielder who’d been on the books at a massive club in Europe, played for the Dutch youth teams and also had some semi-successful loan spells in the Netherlands, Greece and Italy.
However, Bouy’s time at Leeds has made the midfielder out to be a complete embarrassment with him failing to make a single appearance for the Yorkshire outfit in four years.
To be fair to Bouy, it wasn’t his fault that Leeds’ link with Cultural Leonesa was a complete waste of time as the midfielder joined the Spanish club on loan in his debut year in England.

He played just four times for Leonesa while he was there before the loan deal was terminated and he spent the rest of the 2017/18 season doing nothing.
The 2018/19 season was a bit better for Bouy as he spent it on loan at Dutch side PEC Zwolle and he made 17 Eredivisie appearances.
However, since May 2019, Bouy hasn’t played a competitive football match anywhere and has turned down the opportunity to have his contract terminated so he can sign for another club as a free agent [Phil Hay].
Instead, Bouy has constantly posted updates on his Instagram that show him training in the Middle East.
One of his more hilarious Instagram posts was uploaded last year when he showed an image of himself looking tired and the caption: “Nothing but progress.”
Like, what?
But the most embarrassing thing about Bouy’s Instagram is his bio, in which he calls himself a “professional athlete of Leeds United F.C.”
Bouy is a footballer who’s seemingly more concerned about what money he makes rather than what he makes of his career.
He’s 28-years-old now – he should be at the prime of his career. Instead, he’s spent the last two years posting inspirational Instagram posts in a clear show that he’s more bothered about being a social media influencer than a “professional athlete”.
Leeds can finally wash their hands of Bouy at the end of this month.
We’ll wait and see whether he finds another club but we doubt any half-decent team would be willing to take someone who’s prepared to waste a good chunk of his career for the sake of seeing out a contract.
