New Leeds United announcement arrives too late for January business
Connor Roberts was the only arrival at Leeds United during the January transfer window, despite endless rumours linking the club with several signings.
Although the Whites were promised a quiet window, there was still a sense of disappointment at Elland Road with the lack of incoming signings compared to the plethora of outgoings.
In addition to the Burnley right-back, Leeds were also linked with Everton’s Ben Godfrey, Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest, Leicester City’s Harry Soutar and Manuel Benson from the Clarets.
However, the Welsh right-back was the only deal out of these to go through, with Leeds announcing it just after the transfer window closed on 1 February.
What happened during the window for Leeds United?
Leeds announced the appointment of Jordan Miles as Head of Recruitment on Tuesday 6 February, with it well known that the Aberdeen man would only arrive at Elland Road once the window had closed.
It is difficult to ignore the fact that Miles could have had a significant impact in West Yorkshire, with many fans frustrated with the drawn-out process of signing players.
Whether the links to the aforementioned players were concrete or just rumours, any of them would have helped Leeds to maintain their level of football under Daniel Farke in the second half of the season amid a hectic schedule.

Farke was very open about his desire to bring in at least one full-back during the January window, and after the departures of Luke Ayling and Djed Spence, it was expected the chase for a new signing would heat up.
That never really materialised amid a desperate need to bring in a new defender, especially with Junior Firpo, Jamie Shackleton and Sam Byram all susceptible to injury.
