MOT View: Leeds handed boost as West Brom fail to capitalise on Whites defeat v QPR
Leeds United fans have had a tough few days but at least there was some good news on Monday night as West Brom lost against Stoke City.
West Brom could have moved four points clear at the top of the Championship table by beating Stoke but Michael O’Neill’s side managed to grab a 1-0 win at The Hawthorns courtesy of an early goal by Tyrese Campbell.
The Baggies have now failed to win in any of their last six Championship matches and that just shows that maybe Leeds fans do not need to panic as much as they currently are.
Leeds need to sign some new players and although it is getting towards the latter stages of the January transfer window, there is still confidence that a deal – or deals – will be done in time.
Losing 1-0 in an awful manner at QPR on Saturday was a sickening blow as it also saw Kalvin Phillips hit with a three-match ban and the poor form of Patrick Bamford was really laid bare for all to see.
But if anything, shouldn’t that at least speed things up and maybe force Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta into pushing the boat out a bit in regards to transfers?
It could have been a blessing in disguise but there was no disguise about West Brom’s defeat on Monday night being good news for the Whites.
It keeps them in touching distance and just shows that there are really two automatic promotion spots that are up for grabs because the Baggies are playing just as poorly as Leeds right now.
In other Leeds United news, Leeds have launched enquiries about two forwards.
