Report: Leeds launch enquiries about two forwards, one has 17 goals this season

Leeds United have approached Hull City with an enquiry about signing Jarrod Bowen on loan from them this month, according to Football Insider.

Bowen, 23, is one of the best players in the Championship and has scored 17 goals in all competitions for the Humberside club this season.

Leeds are in need of reinforcements up front and although Bowen is usually a right-sided winger, he does have the capability of playing as a centre-forward in his locker.

Football Insider reports that Leeds are confident they will land themselves a new striker before the January transfer window slams shut and enquiries have been made about Bowen and Sheffield United’s David McGoldrick.

However it is understood that neither club is willing to loan out their players as Leeds aim to sign a senior striker on temporary terms.

The Sun reported earlier this month that Leeds are readying a loan-to-buy bid to sign Bowen with a £3million fee up front and a further £12million to make the deal permanent upon promotion.

Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta are bound to have seen that plan blown to bits though due to Hull’s stance that they will not send Bowen out on loan.

It is a massive shame that Leeds will be unable to land Bowen this month as he is a player who seems ready for the step up to the Premier League.

Leeds need forwards like that who can help them seal promotion and then stay in the squad once reaching the top-flight.

Unfortunately, it is proving tough to find someone who fits that mould who is available.
