MOT View: Leeds 23y/o should be able to run riot against QPR weaklink this weekend

Leeds United will want to bounce back from their defeat against Sheffield Wednesday when they face QPR at Loftus Road in their next Championship fixture this weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side dropped to second in the league standings last week when the Owls won at Elland Road but there is a chance to return to winning ways this weekend when 15th-placed QPR welcome the Whites to London.

Although there are plenty of reasons why Leeds fans should not see this upcoming fixture as a guaranteed win, one thing that is likely to happen is Jack Harrison being able to run riot once again on the left-wing.

Harrison, 23, has been one of Leeds’ stand-out players this season.

The on-loan Manchester City winger has scored five goals and supplied six assists in 27 Championship appearances for the Whites this term, playing a key role in what has been so far a successful campaign.

Stats by WhoScored show that the former New York City attacker has averaged more dribbles per league game than any other Leeds player this season [1.6] while he also ranks second for crosses [0.7] and fourth for key passes [1.8].

Harrison is arguably the most consistent attacker in the Leeds squad and deserves all the plaudits that have been sent his way in his second loan spell from Man City.

And he may be able to improve on those numbers this weekend when he takes on one of the worst defences in the division at Loftus Road.

QPR right-back Todd Kane is likely to face up to Harrison this weekend but the former Chelsea defender has been a real weak link for Mark Warburon’s side this season.

WhoScored’s rating system has him scoring just 6.27 for his form while stats show that he has only managed 1.2 tackles and 0.8 interceptions per appearance in his 19 league outings.

In comparison, Derby’s Max Lowe averages the highest number of tackles per game [4.1] out of Championship full-backs with 10 or more appearances while Huddersfield’s Danny Simpson average of 2.4 interceptions is a league high under the same criteria.

Kane has had a poor season for QPR and Harrison is bound to have a field day when he comes up against him this weekend.

In other Leeds United news, Darren Bent says Leeds have been linked with a player who was once one of the best in the Championship.
