MOT View: Don Goodman prediction about Leeds came true sooner than he expected
Leeds United finally broke their run of 1-0 victories on Saturday as they hammered Hull City 4-0 at the KCOM Stadium.
Luke Ayling’s deflected strike got the ball rolling for Leeds, who added three more after the break when Pablo Hernandez found the back of the net and Tyler Roberts bagged a brace off the bench.
It was about time Leeds started to take all of their chances and finally put a team to bed a lot more comfortably than they have been lately.
Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman predicted something like this happening for the Whites earlier this week but it seems that his prediction came true a lot more sooner than he would have expected.
“I personally think somebody is going to get a bit of a beating soon because some of these chances they’re creating will be taken,” said the ex-West Brom striker on Sky Sports’ EFL Podcast.
No team in the Championship has averaged more shots at goal per game than Leeds [16.4] this season, according to stats by WhoScored.
While they are also the leading club for average shots on target per game [5.3], Brentford are not far behind them in that category [5] while league leaders West Brom are next in the rankings [4.9].
It means that while Leeds have plenty of attempts, they’re not exactly the most accurate in front of goal.
Leeds have scored 54 goals in the league this season.
West Brom [64], Brentford [59] and QPR [55] have all scored more while teams like Blackburn [52] and Fulham [51] are not far behind the Whites.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men should really be sticking the ball in the back of the net more often than they are, which is why it was so great to see them finally click into gear at Hull and really maul the Tigers.
In other Leeds United news, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was frustrated by this Leeds mainstay in the 4-0 win.
