MOT View: Cowley comments could prove Huddersfield hope could come crashing down v Leeds

Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley has commented on the hope his side has going into the upcoming clash with Leeds United at Elland Road.

Cowley has insisted that his side’s latest performances in the Championship have brought back a sense of belief at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Terriers have beaten Bristol City and Charlton in their last two outings, and have put daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.

Cowley admitted that those results have helped massively, even if a trip to Elland Road poses much bigger threats for his side.

“We are certainly not getting ahead of ourselves,” he told Yorkshire Live.

“So we are going to stay really level headed, really focused and what the last two performances have done is create a benchmark for us.

“They have given us a foundation and something we can hopefully build and grow. That’s what we want to do because we want to finish the season in a really strong way and a really positive way and try and give the Huddersfield Town supporters some hope again.”

Huddersfield will need much more than just hope to get any points from Elland Road, and it could all come crashing down in West Yorkshire on Saturday.

Despite beating Charlton 4-0 previously, Huddersfield only managed to keep 56.6% possession, a stat that proves their games are open – something Leeds will be looking to exploit on Saturday [WhoScored].

In their 2-1 victory over Bristol City, the Terriers only had two corners which could suggest that they don’t spend sufficient time building pressure in the final third.

Either way, Leeds will be expected to dominate the Terriers, and they will need more than hope to leave Elland Road with any points on Saturday.
