MOT View: Cooper admission on documentary proves Leeds have added motivation this season

The ‘Take Us Home’ documentary released at the end of last season was always going to be a tough watch for Leeds United fans.

It showed every high and every low of a quite breathtaking campaign, where Leeds somehow managed to throw away promotion when they were on the verge of the Premier League.

Fans had to relive that heartbreaking play-off defeat to Derby County back in May, but many would have wondered how the players reacted to it both on and off the pitch.

Liam Cooper told the Athletic recently that he still hasn’t watched the final episode of the documentary, and that most of the squad are the same.

“Do you know what? If we go on and do it this year, then I might decide to watch it,” Cooper told Phil Hay.

“None of it will matter then. But I just wanted to forget about it, to get it out of my head.

“You could possibly see it coming from a bit earlier on in the season when we had a few bad results, but it’s really hard to put your finger on. I honestly don’t know.

“I’ve not watched it back and I won’t watch it back. Not yet, anyway. I don’t feel like I want to see it. Everybody deals with these things differently. Some people get over it quickly. Some people; it festers for a while and I’m one of them.”

Cooper has led by example fantastically since Marcelo Bielsa arrived at the club, and he will want nothing more than to earn promotion in the club’s centenary year.

Being at the club six years, the Scottish international will know exactly what it means to the fans, and his admission about the documentary proves that he has added motivation to finally earn promotion.
